About PROcure
"Supply Chain is a Strategic Patient Care Function"
PROcure is a not-for-profit, non-share-capital, supply chain Shared Service Organization (SSO) created by its member hospitals to develop regional integrated supply chains in order to standardize and streamline work processes thereby generating cost reductions in the hospitals which can be used for patient care. The five member hospital organizations within the Erie-St. Clair Local Healthcare Integration Network (ESC LHIN) – Bluewater Health, Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Hôtel-Dieu Grace Hospital, Leamington District Memorial Hospital and Windsor Regional Hospital.
PROcure’s mandate is to provide supply chain services including Accounts Payable, Procurement, Sourcing and Logistics to member healthcare organizations across the ESC LHIN. PROcure will help improve service levels and maximize supply chain efficiencies that will result in savings for member hospitals to be reinvested to patient care. The organization also aims to transform the traditional supply chain practices and to drive continuous adoption of best practices in supply chain management among its member hospitals.
The goal of transformation is to maximize the value of the supply chain function to the organization. Transformation allows organizations to shift their focus from an emphasis on transactional competence to strategic excellence. In the earliest stages of supply chain development, the focus is on practices that make activities through the supply chain cycle — planning, procuring, storing, moving and paying for goods and services — more efficient. With increasing sophistication, the focus shifts to increasing effectiveness and responsiveness. The benefits include lower costs, improved patient care, better service to front-line professionals, and increased value from suppliers.
The project has been supported by OntarioBuys, the ESC LHIN and the Boards of Directors for all of the hospitals.
